Royal Game of Ur: goUR

Play the game that people have loved for 4,500 years. The Royal Game of Ur was found in the royal tombs of the ancient city of Ur, in Mesopotamia. Kings and commoners raced their pieces across its famous rosettes thousands of years before chess or backgammon existed — and its rules survive today, reconstructed from a Babylonian cuneiform tablet. goUR brings it back as a beautifully crafted, modern iPhone and iPad game. A MATCH IN MINUTES Roll the dice, race your seven pieces around the board, and knock your opponent's pieces home. Land on a rosette for another roll. Simple to learn in one short game — with real strategic depth underneath the luck of the dice. SIX HISTORICAL RULE SETS Play the classic reconstruction everyone knows, then explore five more ways the game was played across two millennia — faster races, tighter battles, and the Egyptian cousin Aseb. Each variant comes with clear, illustrated rules.
