About this game
Do you know this face? Portraits brings together 1,158 people — painters, writers, scientists, musicians, explorers, film-makers, rulers — from the Egypt of the pharaohs to today. Every image is a documented photograph or painting, and every card was written by hand: a few lines that tell a life, not an encyclopaedia entry pasted in. FOUR WAYS TO PLAY • One face, four names: say who it is. • One name, four faces: point to the right portrait. • Free entry: type the name, with nothing to choose from. • Chronology: put four portraits back in order of time. TWO LENGTHS • Five portraits, for a three-minute break. • Flawless: the round runs until your first mistake. WHAT BRINGS YOU BACK • A streak that climbs with every right answer. • Missed portraits return the next day, three days later, then a week on — you end up remembering them. • A collection that fills up, badges, ranks, statistics. • A home screen widget: one face a day. THIRTEEN FIELDS Literature, politics, science, thought, painting, music, cinema, exploration, military, industry, sculpture, architecture, sport. NO ADS, NO SUBSCRIPTION, NO NETWORK One hundred and fifty portraits are free. After that, a single purchase opens the whole corpus, for good. The app works entirely offline: on the underground, on a plane, abroad. No advertising, no ad tracking, no account to create. THREE LANGUAGES English, French, Spanish — interface, names and cards. CARE IN THE DETAIL Six skins, light and dark. Text follows the size set in the system settings, and animations stop when reduced motion is on. Portraits is made for people who like to know who they are looking at. Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
